What Is the Lotus Effect and How Does It Work?
SIW demonstrates a natural surface phenomenon known as the “lotus effect.” When water droplets touch the surface, they do not spread; instead, they roll off easily. The contact between the surface and the water is broken, preventing wetting, moisture retention, and water-induced surface degradation.
Magnetic Field-Responsive Surface Film Technology
When formulated under the influence of a magnetic field, SIW produces a film layer that not only repels water but also acts as an invisible shield over the surface. As a result, water, moisture, and even airborne micro-particles cannot adhere. Surfaces coated with SIW gain both enhanced visibility and increased durability.
Applications in Textile Products
The SIW Water Proof formulation has been tested on textile products. When applied to fabric, it prevents moisture from penetrating the fibers; the fabric remains dry, light, and provides a prolonged sensation of dryness. Under cold weather conditions, it offers anti-freeze protection down to -50°C.
